Voyager VetCare was founded on a simple belief: pets heal best where they feel safe. So we brought the clinic to them.
Our story
Voyager VetCare is proudly owned and operated by husband-and-wife team, Dr. Chrisi Maxwell and Derek Maxwell; bringing together a shared passion for animal health and a commitment to compassionate, high-quality care.
Dr. Maxwell, a Gladwin, Michigan native and 2008 graduate of Gladwin High School, began her academic journey at Saginaw Valley State University before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her dedication to animals began early through active involvement in the equine industry and many years as a 4-H member. Over the past five years at Grayling Hospital for Animals, Dr. Maxwell has refined her clinical expertise and developed a deep appreciation for all facets of veterinary medicine.
Derek Maxwell, originally from Beaverton, Michigan, graduated from Beaverton High School in 2003 before earning his degree in Veterinary Technology (Veterinary Nurse) from Baker College. His professional experience includes serving at Saginaw Valley Equine Clinic and the MSU Veterinary Medical Center, where he built a strong foundation in both equine and companion animal care.
Together, Dr. Chrisi and Derek combine advanced medical training with hands-on clinical experience to deliver trusted, personalized veterinary care to the communities they proudly serve.
